The Last Supper by Leonardo De Vinci
We got fortunate enough to somehow manage to get tickets to see The Last Supper painting by Leonardo De Vinci. On our first day in Milan, a gentleman mentioned that tickets are sold out for the next three months. The gentlemen at the front desk said that people try to call, but it is nearly impossible. People travel from all over the world to view this incredible work of art. I felt very blessed to have been in the presence of it. The most astonishing part of viewing this piece was the wear it shows. You can tell that the pigments of the paint Leonardo had used had been wearing off. The way they have preserved this piece is a work of its own. The tour guide shared with us how Leonardo did not sign this painting but made his mark through a knot in the bottom right corner. It was a very clever and artistic approach on De Vinci's part that many may overlook. The amount of detail and story telling in this painting is an incredible master piece, which is why it is known to be a must for anyone who comes to Milan.
